NOTE: Limit of two entries per exhibitor per class. Exhibitors must comply with the State of Connecticut Fair And Show Requirements. All exhibits shown by Junior Exhibitors must be owned or leased by exhibitors by January 1st of the current year. Registration and lease paperwork is required. This is a three day show, and all animals must remain in the barns until Sunday. Barn space is limited to 60 head of cattle.
- Fill out entries by using the appropriate entry form found here.
- Entries must be mailed to: Doreen Audet Hewston, 70 Locust Road, Harwinton, CT 06791. Health papers must be sent with entry.
- All animals must be on grounds by 4:00pm Friday.
- Dairy Cattle may be released at 5:00pm Sunday.
- Superintendent will assign barn space.
- Judging will start at 9:00am Saturday. Showmanship first followed by Breed Classes.
- Bedding will be furnished. Exhibitor must furnish hay and grain. Exhibitors are responsible for keeping their area clean and organized. Exhibitors must bring their own water buckets. Sharing of water buckets is not allowed.
- Junior Herdsmen Contest for Dairy Exhibitors will be sponsored by the Fair. A prize of $20.00 will be awarded. The junior exhibitor, who keeps his/her area neat and clean, displaying breed and farm signs, and willingness to interact with the public, will determine herdsmanship.
- All exhibitors are encourages to display farm and breed signs.
- Where there is no competition, the judge will award ribbon and prize money as he/she sees fit.
- Trophy will be awarded for Best of Show by the Fair. Rosettes will be awarded for Grand and Reserve Champion of each Breed.
- Showmanship will be judged 50% for animal fitting and 50% for showmanship.
- The Dairy Committee reserves the right to reject any entry in question, and the remove any animal from the grounds for health reasons or false ownership. The Committee also reserves the final and absolute right ti interpret these rules and regulations and to settle all matters, questions, and differences in regard thereto the show, and the right to amend or add these rules within its sole discretion to an exhibitor who violates any of these rules and regulations.
- Any exhibitor who shows poor sportsmanship or interferes with the judge's decision will result in disqualification and forfeit of premiums.
- Breeds of Dairy Cattle shown will be shown in the following order: Ayrshire, Brown Swiss, Guernsey, Holstein, Jersey, and Milking Shorthorn.
- LIMIT TO TEN ANIMALS PER FARM (The show committee shall reserve the right to limit entries in all classes to meet with facilities available and limit the number of entries made by an exhibitor. Any return of entries under this rule will done in order of entries received and without discrimination.)
- Ownership: Every animal must be entered for competition in the name of the owner whose name is endorsed on the entry form. Anyone trying to deceive the judge in regard to ownership, or who shall borrow them the exhibit in his or her name, shall forfeit all claims as an exhibitor. Transfer or papers must be completed thirty days prior to entry deadline.
- All animals in the breeding classes must be recorded in the recognized books of record for their respective breed. Exhibitors must produce certificates of registration at the request of the show committee.
- Leasing in the Junior show only.
