Exhibitors must comply with the State of Connecticut Fair And Show Requirements.
Senior exhibitors must pay $5.00 entry fee (payable with entry). A cooping fee of 50ยข per bird will be charged for each bird. Checks can be made payable to Terryville Fair.
- Poultry originating within the state must come from healthy flocks with no evidence of contagious or infectious disease. All cages or crates must be cleaned and disinfected before and after each show. Poultry vaccinated within 30 days with a live virus vaccine will be prohibited from showing. OUT OF STATE POULTRY: All poultry must test negative for pullorum within 12 months prior to their first show date and be accompanied by such certification. All cages and crates must be cleaned and disinfected before and after each show. In addition, all poultry must comply with the Department of Agriculture Avian Influenza requirements by originating from AI-Free flocks or be tested for AI within 30 days of entry and have certification of such. No poultry from any areas of any state having Avian Influenza may enter Connecticut. Poultry vaccinated within 30 days with a live vaccine will be prohibited from showing. NOTE - If you are having difficulty obtaining an avian influenza test for your birds, please contact Dr. John Post at UConn Diagnostic Testing Services, at 203-486-2766.
- Only single entries, no trios or pairs. No substitute birds. Pure bred birds only.
- Judging on first three only.
- Entries limited to 40 birds per family. Limited to first 300 birds.
- No entry tags will be mailed, but will be attached to coops by the committee.
- Entries will be accepted on Standard Breed birds only.
- Only healthy live birds may be shown. Exhibitors must have card of approval from the Livestock Division indicating that birds were negative to a Pullorum Test within 12 months.
- No advertising will be permitted on coops until after judging.
- The Fair will not be responsible for any accidents, mistakes, loss or damage from any cause.
- Poultry will be judged by APA Standards.
- Judging will start at 10:30 A.M., Saturday.
- Feed and water will be furnished by the Fair.
- Entries in poultry will be limited to five (5) standard varieties and bantams by one exhibitor, and not more than two (2) cocks, hens, cockerels and pullets in this case.
- Exhibits must remain in place until 6:00 P.M., Sunday.
- The Judges will be instructed to withhold a prize or prizes when in their opinion the specimens are not of sufficient merit.
- No appeal from the decision of the Judges will be considered upon any grounds whatsoever.
- Exhibitors will indicate on entry blanks, all standard birds as "S" and all bantams as "B".
- Coop in time will be Friday, from 5:00 - 9:00 P.M. All birds exhibited in this show must be at least five months of age and from flocks participating in the official pullorum eradication program in the exhibitor's name and free from evidence of infectious disease and not recently exposed thereto. Pullorum Cards or State Health Papers must be shown before cooping birds.
Premiums will be paid to winners of single bird entries in each standard breed in each category.
